Rach's Homemade Apple Pie

I don’t know about you guys, but I absolutely love baking. One of my favorite things is having signature recipes that people are always hoping I’ll bring to the party. It makes me feel great to love on my friends & family in this way! One of the most delicious & easy baking recipes I've come up with is my homemade apple pie. Below is the recipe! If you make it, post about it on social media & tag us! Would love to see it. 🍎

{ Rach’s Homeade Apple Pie }

• Three store-bought pie crusts

• Lemon zest

• Juice from half a lemon

• 5 Granny Smith apples

• ¾ of a cup of brown sugar

• ¾ of a cup of granulated sugar

• 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

• ¼ of a teaspoon of salt

• 1 & a ½ teaspoons of cinnamon

• ¾ of a teaspoon of nutmeg

• ½ of a teaspoon of cardamom

• 1 teaspoon of vanilla

• 1 tablespoon of milk

• 1 beaten egg

• Chunk sugar for topping the crust

• One regular sized pie pan, greased with butter

• (Optional) Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

• Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

• Wash, peel, & slice the apples, taking care to remove all seeds. In a large mixing bowl, add the apples, lemon zest, lemon juice, brown sugar, regular sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, & milk. Mix together until everything is well covered.

• Add the bottom crust to the pan, taking care to not leave space between the pan & the crust around the sides. Then pour the filling into the pan.

• Design the top of your pie crust in a lattice pattern or whatever design of your choice. I use a small knife for this, & Pinterest has great pie design ideas as well.

• Place the designed crust onto the top of the filling and use a fork to close the edges.

• Use a basting brush & cover the pie crust with the beaten egg to get a nice browned crust as it cooks.

• Place the pie on a middle rack & cook for 25 minutes, then turn the oven down to 375 degrees & bake for another 25-30 minutes.

• Once done, remove the pie from the oven & let cool for as long as you prefer.

• Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
