Capturing a Lifetime: Laura & Cody’s Photo Journey from Engagement to Motherhood in Atlanta

There are clients, and then there are the people who become part of your story just as much as you become part of theirs. Laura and Cody are that kind of couple for me.

Our journey together started years ago with their engagement photos at Piedmont Park — full of sweet, early love and that giddy excitement that fills the air before a wedding. Soon after, I had the honor of photographing their beautiful wedding in Athens, Georgia, a day full of heartfelt vows, laughter, beautiful art, and unforgettable joy.

But what’s made this relationship so very special to capture is what came after.

Since their wedding day, Laura and Cody have invited me back to document so many of life’s beautiful moments. From cozy couple’s shoots with their pup Ollie, to their baby announcement, to a glowing maternity session, and then the sweetest newborn portraits of baby Porter — I’ve been lucky enough to watch their love grow with every frame.

It’s a beautiful thing to bear witness to the lives of others through this work — to be invited into their most tender, joyful, and transformative moments. But what makes it even more meaningful is when that relationship becomes mutual. While I’ve had the honor of documenting so many seasons of Laura and Cody’s life, they’ve also witnessed many of mine. From my days living in Athens, to my time in Atlanta, a move to New York City and back, so many life changes, and even a two-year detour into the tech world as an account executive — they continued to choose me to capture their memories. Their loyalty as clients has been a quiet, constant thread through all the changes life brings, and I'm forever grateful! Photography is such a gift.

Most recently, we met at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for a Spring motherhood shoot. Laura, radiant and peaceful with baby Porter in her arms, reminded me why I do what I do. It's not just about capturing a pretty photo — it's about preserving the soul of a family’s story, chapter after chapter.

Being trusted to photograph these milestones year after year is the deepest compliment. It's proof that photography isn’t just a one-time thing. It’s a relationship. It’s trust. And it’s a love for people — Laura and Cody represent that for me as a photographer.
