Washington Square Park Couples Session | NYC Winter Couple Photography with Jonathan & Becca
There’s something effortlessly cinematic about New York City right before Christmas--the air is crisp, the light feels soft, and the city carries a quiet kind of romance. Jonathan and Becca’s Washington Square Park couples session captured exactly that feeling. Cool, stylish, and completely in sync, their session felt like a scene from an indie film unfolding in the heart of NYC.
We met them in Washington Square Park, where the iconic arch, scattered pigeons, and winter atmosphere created the perfect backdrop. Their outfits leaned cozy and elevated — layered textures, dark tones, and timeless pieces that felt natural within the city. Everything about the session felt relaxed, artistic, and effortlessly cool.

Starting with Chess in Washington Square Park
We began the session at one of Washington Square Park’s classic chess tables. Jonathan and Becca played together while we documented the quiet, intimate moments--hands reaching across the board, soft smiles, and the rhythm of a slow winter morning in New York.
It felt authentic to them. Nothing posed, nothing forced. Just two people spending time together in the city.
These kinds of moments always create the strongest imagery--when couples are simply doing something they’d naturally do together.
Running Through Pigeons Under the Washington Square Arch
After chess, we wandered toward the Washington Square Arch where the energy shifted. Jonathan and Becca ran through a cluster of pigeons, laughing and holding hands as the birds lifted into the air around them.
The movement added a playful, cinematic quality to the session. Their chemistry is effortless--fun, relaxed, and deeply connected. The contrast between the structured architecture and spontaneous movement created some of our favorite images from the day.
Winter in Washington Square Park gives sessions a quieter feel, which made these moments stand out even more.
Reading Together in the Empty Fountain
One of the most unique parts of the session was when Jonathan and Becca climbed into the empty fountain and sat together reading books. The stillness of the location, paired with the city skyline surrounding them, created something intimate and artistic.
They leaned into each other, turning pages, completely at ease. It felt like watching a quiet moment unfold. It was cinematic, calm, and deeply romantic.
This portion of the session perfectly captured their personalities: thoughtful, creative, and effortlessly cool.
NYC Winter Couples Photography in Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is one of our favorite NYC locations for couples sessions, especially in late fall and early winter. The iconic arch, open walkways, chess tables, and city backdrop offer a variety of moods in one location. Right before Christmas, the atmosphere feels especially romantic without being overly crowded.
Jonathan and Becca’s session highlighted everything we love about photographing couples in New York.
A Cool, Effortless Love Story
Jonathan and Becca have a calm confidence together. Nothing feels performative, there's just natural chemistry and comfort. From playing chess to running through pigeons to quietly reading together, every moment felt like a snapshot of their real relationship.
This Washington Square Park couples session was artistic, cozy, and undeniably New York. A perfect winter love story in the city.
