Guest Confessionals at an (Actual) Garden Party Wedding (+ Photo Gallery) | Marietta Garden Center
Some weddings feel like an event. Others feel like you’ve wandered into the loveliest garden party imaginable. That was Kristin and Danie's day.
Colorful flowers, towering trees, vintage-inspired fashion, friends playing card games around the tables, emotional speeches, and an outdoor celebration that felt intimate rather than overly formal made this wedding one of those days that was simply fun to photograph.
And because Kristin and Daniel wanted to remember not only how their wedding looked, but also the personalities of the people who filled it, they added one of our favorite à la carte wedding video options: Guest Confessionals.
Think of it as a wedding guest book—but on video, and significantly more chaotic in the best possible way.
Throughout the celebration, guests have an opportunity to step in front of the camera and leave messages for the couple. Depending on your particular collection and wedding, that can mean heartfelt advice, memories, congratulations, inside jokes, stories and whatever else your friends decide they desperately need preserved for posterity.
The result is something completely different from a traditional wedding film.
A highlight film preserves the story of your wedding day. Guest confessionals preserve the people who were there with you.
Years later, being able to actually see and hear the people you love congratulating you, teasing you, telling stories and speaking directly to you can become one of the most meaningful pieces of wedding media you own.
It's also particularly fun for a wedding like Kristin and Daniel's, where the personality of the guest experience was such a huge part of the day.

A Garden Party Wedding at Marietta Garden Center
The Marietta Garden Center is almost tailor-made for a garden party wedding. The historic white house, sprawling lawn, mature trees, garden paths, flowers, and covered outdoor space created a setting that already felt established and romantic without needing to be transformed into something else.
Kristin and Daniel leaned into that atmosphere.
Their wedding felt colorful, relaxed and delightfully personal. Instead of a reception where everyone immediately disappeared onto the dance floor, their guests actually hung out. Friends gathered around tables to talk and play card games, wandered around the grounds, and spent the evening enjoying one another.
It gave the entire celebration the feeling of a real garden party—just with a wedding ceremony tucked beautifully into the middle of it.
Kristin's Tea-Length Wedding Dress
And we NEED to talk about this dress.
Kristin wore a gorgeous tea-length wedding dress with a structured, vintage-inspired silhouette that could not have been more perfect for the setting. Between the full skirt, draped neckline, off-the-shoulder details and her floral hair accents, the entire look felt like it belonged somewhere between a mid-century wedding photograph and a modern editorial.
The shorter hemline also gave the dress so much movement, which made it especially fun to photograph. There is something about a tea-length wedding dress spinning through a garden that just works.
Daniel's dark green suit and warm-toned tie complemented the colorful florals and greenery beautifully without feeling overly matched.
Garden Wedding Portraits That Felt Like a Movie
Kristin and Daniel's portraits together were easily one of our favorite parts of the gallery.
The grounds surrounding the Marietta Garden Center gave us so many different environments without ever needing to leave the venue. We photographed them beneath the trees, along the brick pathways, surrounded by flowering bushes and against the historic architecture of the house.
The afternoon sunlight coming through the trees created some particularly dreamy portraits—soft, warm, slightly nostalgic and full of movement.
We always want our Atlanta wedding photography to include the beautiful portraits you’ll frame, of course, but we also want the photographs to actually feel like the people in them. Kristin and Daniel gave us plenty of both: composed editorial portraits alongside twirling, laughing and quieter in-between moments.
Colorful Garden Party Details
One of the best parts of this wedding was that nothing felt overly manufactured.
The wedding party wore an assortment of greens, purples, blues and floral patterns rather than identical dresses, while their bouquets were overflowing with pink, yellow, orange, purple and white blooms. Against the greenery of the gardens, the color palette absolutely popped.
It made the wedding feel collected rather than prescribed—almost as though all of these beautiful things and people had naturally found their way into the same garden.
And yes, there were card games at the reception tables.
Those little choices are often what make a wedding memorable. Your guests don't necessarily need another elaborate wedding activity; sometimes giving your favorite people space to sit around a table, play cards, laugh and enjoy being together creates exactly the atmosphere you wanted in the first place.

An Incredible Wedding Toast From Kristin's Brother
One of the emotional highlights of the evening came during the toasts.
Kristin's brother gave an incredible speech that quickly became one of those moments where photographing the person holding the microphone is only half the story. We were watching Kristin and Daniel's reactions just as closely—the laughter, emotion and little glances between them while someone who knows them deeply spoke about their relationship.
It is exactly why we approach wedding photography with a documentary eye even during the more structured parts of the day. The speech matters, but so does the person tearing up while listening to it.

Kristin and Daniel's wedding is a perfect example of why we love celebrations that prioritize personality over wedding traditions simply for tradition's sake.
Wear the tea-length dress. Pick the bright flowers. Let everyone wear something a little different. Put card games on the tables. Have your brother give the speech that makes everyone emotional. Give your friends a camera and a microphone and see what happens.
